Ant’s head (for Pablo Picasso)

2026.03.23

Pablo Picasso was not only genius, but also an industrious artist, who several times stepped where no artist has gone before. His „Bull's Head“ (1942), constructed from bicycle handlebars and saddle, is a brilliant example of the art of observation.

I wanted to compose something simple, recognisably realistic and similar to a Picasso work, all within a 4 × 4 cm square. A 40 mm wide paper clip served as the material for the last few versions.

Realistic Bull

Very close to a bull, but too many details.

Bull's Head

The nostrils help identify the bull, but to make the correct horns I had to bend the bracket. The dimensions don't fit my square.

Minimalistic Bull

Only two unchanged details, but doesn't fit the square and is difficult to recognise.

Ant's Head

I chose the ant's head design — it's not a bull, but a simple combination of two unchanged details that fits neatly into a square. Anyone can evaluate its likelihood by browsing Ant Wikipedia.
